Chinese Big Tech ordered about 6 million NVIDIA RTX Pro 5500s, but only ~1% may ship over four months (via Bloomberg report)
Announced November 4, 2026
Verified (fact)
According to a Bloomberg report relayed by AI Times, Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance and others ordered about 6 million RTX Pro 5500 workstation GPUs, which can avoid export controls, worth $70 billion (about 94 trillion won). However, the volume they receive over four months is expected to be around 1% of the total, because production capacity falls short of demand and NVIDIA is focusing on producing next-generation high-performance products.
Why it matters (interpretation)
Even with demand for products that sidestep controls, actual supply is constrained. This could accelerate Chinese companies' shift to domestic chips such as Ascend.
