Announced November 2, 2026

Verified (fact)

Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) held an launch ceremony for the sixth national supercomputer, 'Hangang', at KISTI headquarters in Daejeon on November 2. It has 8,496 GPUs (8,336 NVIDIA GH200 and 160 H200) and 9,936 CPUs. Theoretical peak performance is 614 PF and storage is 205 PB. Compared with the fifth system, 'Nurion', introduced in 2018, that is 24 times the theoretical performance and 10 times the storage. Beta service began on October 26, and full service starts on December 14.

Needs fact-check (claim)

AI Times reported that the system is expected to rank among the world's top 10 in performance. An official TOP500 ranking has not yet been confirmed.
