Cisco Talos finds info-stealer 'VOLTA-AUTODOXER' that uses AI to rate victims' 'value', switching models if Claude refuses (report)
Announced October 31, 2026
Verified (fact)
According to AI Times, Cisco Talos disclosed on its official blog a new malware strain, 'VOLTA-AUTODOXER,' that steals personal information from Windows PCs and then uses AI models to assess victims' wealth and security posture. The malware automatically switches to another model if an AI model refuses to perform the analysis. It uses AI to pick potentially profitable targets based on stolen information.
Why it matters (interpretation)
It shows that a single model's refusal safeguards are not enough to prevent abuse, and that swapping between multiple models to automate attacks has made its way into real malware.
