Google brings conversational Gemini navigation to Apple CarPlay, starting in the US (report)
Announced October 21, 2026
Verified (fact)
According to The Verge, Google has released the conversational Gemini navigation it previously added to Android Auto on Apple CarPlay as well, about a year after the Android Auto launch. US drivers can use it starting that day, and Google said it is also rolling out to other regions. Country-by-country release timing has not been confirmed.
Why it matters (interpretation)
Alongside the expansion of Gemini 'Personal Intelligence' to cars covered in the same day's briefing, it shows Google extending its in-car AI assistant even to CarPlay, a rival's platform.
