Speculative decoding method EAGLE-4 released, "3.59x faster than vanilla decoding on Qwen3.8-27B" (community)

Verified (fact)

News of the EAGLE-4 release was posted on Reddit's r/LocalLLaMA. In a shared Qwen3.8-27B benchmark, speedups over vanilla decoding were 2.22x for MTP, 2.57x for DSpark, 2.80x for DFlash 2, and 3.59x for EAGLE-4. It currently supports only Qwen3.8-27B, and llama.cpp and vLLM integration is not yet available.

Needs fact-check (claim)

The figures are based on the benchmark table shared in the post; conditions such as measurement hardware and batch size are not given in the input material.

Why it matters (interpretation)

Speculative decoding is a leading way to speed up generation without changing the model. If the figures are reproduced and the method lands in llama.cpp and vLLM, it could directly lower local and server inference costs. For now, however, the results come from a single model.
