Scatter Lab to add default 3-hour daily and 100,000-won monthly limits for teens on AI character chat app Zeta (report)

Announced October 12, 2026

What happened

Scatter Lab said it will introduce default usage-time and spending limits for teenage users of Zeta, its AI interactive entertainment platform, by the end of the year. The default usage time is 3 hours per day, and the default spending limit is 100,000 won per month. When users are close to the time limit, they will receive a notice suggesting a break; once a limit is reached, use of the service and payments will be restricted.

Provider claims

The company described the measures as protections to prevent excessive use by teenagers.

Why it matters

Teen dependence on generative AI chat services has become an issue in Korea and abroad (e.g., guidelines from Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare and the controversy over evaluations of ChatGPT for Teens). This is the first case of a major Korean AI character chat service directly limiting usage time and payments, and it could become a benchmark for the industry.
