OpenAI life sciences model 'gpt-rosalind-discovery' appears on API pricing page before any announcement (report)

Announced October 10, 2026

Verified (fact)

ZDNet Korea, citing TestingCatalog, reported that 'gpt-rosalind-discovery' was added to the life sciences model section of OpenAI's API pricing page. There was no official announcement, blog post or system card. Pricing is $5 per million input tokens, $0.50 for cached input and $25 for output, the same as the existing 'gpt-rosalind-research'. Its purpose, availability and context window size were not disclosed. GPT-Rosalind is a reasoning model for biology and drug discovery released in April, and since September 11 it has been offered to qualified institutions through a trusted access program.

Why it matters (interpretation)

Judging by its name, it may be a variant for drug candidate discovery (the report's interpretation). It signals that OpenAI is splitting its life sciences lineup by use case, but without official confirmation, whether it actually becomes available remains to be seen.
