NAVER Map becomes first Korean map app to offer voice navigation on AI glasses, starting with Meta; Google and Samsung glasses later this year (report)
Announced October 12, 2026
Verified (fact)
NAVER said on Oct. 12 that it is extending NAVER Map navigation to AI glasses, the first Korean map service to do so. It launches first on Meta's Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta, and will also come to the Google and Samsung 'intelligent eyewear' expected to launch later this year. Users can get route information by voice, such as which direction to go and whether there are stairs or escalators, without looking at their phone screens. Voice requests such as 'tell me my arrival time' and 'find a nearby convenience store' are also supported. Support starts on Android and will expand to iOS in stages. The feature builds on real-time walking voice guidance introduced in June.
Why it matters (interpretation)
This is the first case of a major Korean map service entering the AI glasses ecosystems of Meta, Google and Samsung at once. It could affect how useful and widely adopted AI glasses become in Korea.
