Google DeepMind's AlphaProof Nexus paper published in Science, reporting 9 open Erdős problems and 44 sequence conjectures solved (community reports)
Verified (fact)
According to a Reddit post, a peer-reviewed paper reporting that Google DeepMind's AlphaProof Nexus solved 9 open Erdős problems and 44 sequence conjectures was published in Science in October. Two of the problems had reportedly gone unsolved for more than 50 years. The same results were first released as an arXiv preprint in May 2026; what is new is the peer-reviewed publication. The post cited an article from The Daily Star as its source, and neither a DeepMind announcement nor the Science paper itself was among the collected items.
Why it matters (interpretation)
OpenAI's AI-generated math proofs have drawn growing controversy over verification standards and manuscript retractions. Against that backdrop, an AI math result passing peer review and appearing in a major journal stands in contrast. The results themselves, however, were already made public in May.
