Counterpoint expects humanoid DRAM demand to grow about 20x by 2030, naming robots as the next memory market after HBM (report)

Announced October 11, 2026

What happened

Counterpoint Research said on the 11th that it expects DRAM demand across the humanoid industry to grow nearly 20-fold, from 8,300 Tb (terabits) this year to about 172,000 Tb in 2030. It expects demand to be driven by robot "brains" that process sensor data from cameras, lidar, and other sources. The analysis suggests robots could become a new source of memory demand for Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, following HBM demand from AI data centers.
