Nikon microscopy video contest winner disqualified for using generative AI; new winner named (report)
What happened
Nikon said that the video by Dr. Ning Xu, originally chosen as first place in its 'Small World in Motion' competition, did not comply with the contest rules on generative AI. According to the BBC, the video was described as showing cilia moving in a child's airway. The new first-place winner is Nguyen Nam Nhat of Vietnam, who filmed C. elegans and the single-celled organism Dileptus.
