Cambridge launches Centre for Cryptographic Trust Infrastructure to let mutually untrusting AI agents verify facts (report)
Announced October 7, 2026
What happened
The University of Cambridge's Department of Computer Science and Technology announced the Centre for Cryptographic Trust Infrastructure (CCTI), co-led by Professor Martin Kleppmann. The centre will research how AI agents that cannot trust each other can verify each other's claims and real-world facts using cryptographic proofs alone.
Why it matters
It is research on a trust and verification layer for an era in which agents handle business-to-business transactions.
