Anthropic's Claude startup program draws hundreds of thousands of applications, exceeds benefit cap; all applications under review (community report)
Announced October 9, 2026
What happened
According to GeekNews, Anthropic added a notice to the FAQ on the official Claude Startups page. It says the program received hundreds of thousands of applications over the past few days, which pushed the free one-year Claude Team plan and $1,000 in API credits past their availability limits. Anthropic is re-reviewing every application, and the status of some may change. A Reddit post also claimed that 'this offer is no longer available.'
Why it matters
The startup offer introduced on October 7 appears to be effectively closed. Startups that already applied or were approved should check their status, since it may change.
