Announced October 7, 2026

What happened

This was reported after the AMD Korea visit item in today's briefing. According to Bloter, CEO Lisa Su said at 'AMD Gamer Day' on the 7th that shipments of next-generation products with HBM4 had begun. She said AMD would work with Samsung Electronics and SK hynix across multiple generations and that it needs to plan jointly with Korean supply chain partners for the next three to five years. According to AI Times, she met with Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT to review progress on setting up the 'AMD AI Center of Excellence (CoE)' in Korea this year as AMD's first research hub in Asia. She also met 13 Korean AI startups the same day (ZDNet Korea).

Why it matters

With AMD publicly confirming that HBM4-equipped accelerators are shipping, it may be a sign that Korean memory makers are getting close to turning next-generation HBM supply into actual revenue.
